UK Mortgage Applications drop

UK figures provided by the Council of Mortgage Lenders show that homebuyers took out just 225,200 mortgages in the last three months of 2007.

This represents the smallest number of new mortgages in that quarter for 12 years.

The global credit crunch is hitting consumers everywhere with UK mortgage applications at their lowest level in three years.
